What's Going On In My Life This Week
Happy Monday! Before we dive into outfits, here's what's been happening in my world lately. Quick favor - if this resonates with you, hitting the heart button really helps other people discover these posts too.
🕯️ My Latest Obsession
I recently stumbled across a Substack post called The Bigger the Collar by Tina Boetto, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. She writes about big collared shirts and shares seriously chic ways to style them—so much so that I found myself searching for one to add to my own closet late that night.
But then I paused. While Tina looks amazing and makes me want to buy a collared shirt immediately, I know my shopping habits. A lot can go wrong if I just purchase the first one I find instead of waiting for the right piece—something that fits properly and won't require constant maintenance.
This thoughtful approach aligns perfectly with Tina's philosophy. Her blog Semi-Sustainable focuses on creating a more responsible wardrobe through secondhand shopping and intentional purchases rather than impulse buys. She's been advocating this approach for six years, emphasizing that we already have enough clothes on the planet.
Saying no to fast fashion isn't new, but it's becoming increasingly necessary given how many clothes hit landfills every second. So before clicking purchase, I asked myself: Will the fabric bother me? Will the collar need constant ironing? Will I actually reach for this consistently?
Going through this thought process reminded me why I share what I do: not to push purchases, but to inspire you to make the most of the clothing you already have. Yes, I link a ShopMy page but my hope is that I'll continue to show you how to wear these pieces rather than a one and done. And before you buy anything that I post, ask yourself: Will I actually wear this? Will it make me happy?
That's the whole point—style that fits your life. Rather than hauls, let's focus on rewearing what we already own and love. Because isn't that more fun anyway?

One More Fun Read to Share
I also stumbled across this article by hey, mrs. solomon called ‘How to recognized shaming, “personal style” click bait on Substack, and the article is great, and while 'it’s mentioning Substack, I think it works for a lot of other places too. I see these tactics she mentions such as the “This may sound harsh, but” all over the internet. And honestly it just reminds me of the phrase my friends and I used to use in middle/high school, “no offense but,” like that was supposed to help whatever came after the word but. Spoiler alert, it didn’t.
But I liked the article so much, I kept going back to it and reading it and re-reading it. Trying to make sure I wasn’t doing any of those things she’s mentioning because I don’t want to be a mean girl with my articles. I want to be helpful and creative and inspirational. Not someone who makes you think you need to wear this or that.
So, I definitely am encouraging you to read the article by hey, mrs. solomon because as she mentions before jumping in, ‘it’s scary out there,’ and it is. Plus hey, mrs. solomon is a great resource for style articles. And I can’t even begin to describe her ‘About’ page. Just go and read it. It’s refreshing and real and I love it. A few of her recent pieces are titled:
Go check her out. You will not be disappointed.
📖 What I'm Writing About
Since the last What I’m Wearing This Week went out, I’ve published two more posts you may or may not have received (depending on your settings).
The first one is especially near and dear to me—though honestly, they all are, so I don’t know what makes this one different... but it is, okay? It’s called No One Tells You Your Youth Ends Quietly. I wrote about the grief that comes with aging—not in a dramatic, midlife crisis way, but in that quiet, sneaky way where you suddenly realize you’re no longer the age people mean when they say “young.”
And look—I know some of you are older than me and thinking, “Kiley, you’re a baby,” while others are younger and thinking, “Kiley, you’re ancient.” Both can be true! But this piece is really about the strange grief of moving through life stages without even noticing. No one tells you the transition from house parties with sticky floors to planting day lilies just... happens. You can read it here.
The second post is more fashion-focused: Style It 5 Ways: We The Free Fleur Denim Shorts (Plus One Bonus Look!). Pretty self-explanatory, right? My goal is to publish one of these “Style It 5 Ways” posts every week, so you can find the latest one here.
💪 My Fitness Update
I’m still loving the BetterMe Wall Pilates program. It’s helping me to stay consistent, and the workouts are short enough that I can easily fit one in throughout work and errands. While I hope to have a better routine down in the near future so it doesn’t feel like I’m rushing from one thing to the next, BetterMe is helping me to remain consistent in my workout journey.
I’ll continue to keep you updated…if anything having to report back here keeps me accountable, so thank you!
Okay, enough about my life—let's talk about what I actually wore this week...👗
Quick note: Items with affiliate links earn me a small commission at no cost to you. "Similar" pieces stand in for items that are sold out or from brands whose values don't align with mine. If you ever spot a concern with a linked brand, please don't hesitate to let me know.
ThredUp exception: While I'd rather you shop what you already own, if you are looking to add pieces, I genuinely love (love, love, love) ThredUp for secondhand finds - it aligns with the "shop what you have" philosophy by giving clothes a second life.
Also while I try to find similar items, some of these items I wear are either older or purchased through secondhand retailers so finding an exact match is difficult. If there's anything I'm wearing and you can't find it on my ShopMy, please reach out!
✨ Everything I Wore This Week
🌿 MONDAY | Pattern + Pop
Proof that red is a neutral
Wearing:
Reformation Linen Cropped Top • Red Trouser Shorts • Red Mesh Flats • Red Crossbody Purse • Missoma Square Pearl Earrings
I recently spotted this top on ThredUp and had to have it. I love anything Reformation, and when I can get it at a fraction of the cost, it's always a good day.
I loved how the whole outfit came together with these roma tomato colored trouser shorts from Good American that I purchased last summer - they continue to be a staple in so many of my looks. Threw on my trusty Missoma pearl earrings (they work with literally everything) and I was ready to tackle grocery shopping and cook one of my favorite HelloFresh meals.
Their Garlic Herb Tortelloni with Roasted Tomato and Zucchini has become an obsession - I could honestly eat this every single day. My little hack? I always make way more zucchini than the recipe calls for, then eat the leftovers for lunch the next day with parmesan and any remaining breadcrumbs. It's become my go-to version of girl dinner.
🔁 Rewear Report: These red trouser shorts are one of my favorite purchases from last summer—and they've proven themselves over and over. Whether I’m pairing them with a band tee or a polished blouse, they instantly add color and structure. A bright short that’s comfortable (which is always a yes in my book!) and chic? Yes please.
📌 Style Tip: When you're working with a bold color like red, lean into it. Let the shorts lead, and build the rest of the outfit around texture and neutrals—like pearl earrings or a printed top with a hint of the same tone. It’s an easy way to make a loud color feel totally wearable.
ThredUp Reformation Items: I did a quick search on ThredUp for ‘Reformation’ tops while writing this article, and while I can’t guarantee these are still available, these are the type of tops you can find on ThredUp and I listed the prices they were on Friday morning (sometimes they have additional sales or if it’s your first time ordering, you can get additional discounts).

🦜 TUESDAY | Thrifted Tropicana
Loud in print, light in effort
Wearing:
FARM Rio Ombre Chita Romper• Thrifted Green Heels • Olga Berg Hot Pink Top Handle • Missoma Bobble Chain Choker • Green Hoops
We were heading out to celebrate some good news with friends and family, so I wanted to take this thrifted romper out for a spin. It was a major score from ThredUp and I've been dying to wear it since it arrived.
It's from FARM Rio, which I absolutely love, but purchasing new is pretty pricey - so they're one of the brands I actively hunt for secondhand. When I found this available in my size, I snagged it immediately. It just screams "Kiley!" - I mean, it's a romper in bright colors, what more could I want?
I paired it with almost all secondhand finds: my Olga Berg top handle that I snagged from Poshmark a few months ago, and these green Gia Couture X Pernille Teisbaek heels from ThredUp. I'd never heard of the brand before, but when I saw these heels, they looked like something that belonged in my closet. They're surprisingly comfortable and that green is just perfect.
Fair warning though - if you spot these on Poshmark, they're going for almost $500, so I'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled elsewhere since I definitely didn't pay anywhere close to that!
🔁 Rewear Report: Rompers are the ultimate one-and-done piece, but the key is choosing ones with enough personality to carry the whole look. This FARM Rio print does all the heavy lifting - I just needed to add complementary accessories.
📌 Style Tip: When thrifting statement pieces like this romper, look for brands you love but wouldn't pay full price for. FARM Rio's fun prints come with a higher price tag, but secondhand finds let you wear bold, designer-level prints for a fraction of the cost.

🔥 WEDNESDAY | The Elevated Basics
Professional enough for work, comfortable enough for life
Wearing:
Oversized Black Tee • Asos Design Wide Leg Gingham Pants • Missoma Ripple Oversized Stud Earrings • Missoma Filia Double Chain Necklace • Missoma Savi Pearl Gemstone Beaded Necklace • Cream and Black Crochet Canvas Purse • Birkenstock Arizona Sandals
Some mornings call for maximum comfort, and this look delivered exactly that. I reached for one of my favorite oversized black tees and paired it with these incredibly soft Asos Design gingham pants (they're actually part of a matching set, which makes styling even easier).
My trusty Birkenstocks were the obvious choice to complete the comfort-first vibe, along with some favorite Missoma pieces for a touch of polish. I'll be honest - when I first bought these Birkenstocks, I wasn't sure I'd actually wear them since they're not typically my style (hello, 5-outfit test lesson learned). But they've proven their worth completely. They pair with literally everything and are built to last, making them one of those purchases that just keeps paying dividends in my closet.
🔁 Rewear Report: These gingham pants have surprised me with their versatility—I've worn them with tank tops for weekend errands and can already picture them with cropped blazers for work meetings. The wide-leg silhouette feels polished enough for professional settings, but the soft fabric keeps them comfortable all day. Plus, having them as part of a matching set means you can throw on the coordinating top when you need a foolproof outfit in seconds.
📌 Style Tip: When investing in statement pants like gingham, choose styles with classic proportions that won't date quickly. Wide-leg cuts in timeless patterns work with both fitted and oversized tops, giving you maximum styling flexibility. The key is balancing the pattern with solid pieces that let the print be the star.

🎨 THURSDAY | Red-y Or Not
When monochrome becomes a statement
Wearing:
Madewell Cherry Red Jeans • Red Tube Top • Snakeskin Mules • Missoma Rouje Heart Oversized Stud Earrings • Missoma Filia Double Chain Necklace • Macrame Beach Bag with Wood Beading • ELF O Face Satin Lipstick in No Regrets
I was heading to happy hour with some of my friends and for some reason, this was the only outfit that seemed appropriate. I know jeans can seem odd in summer but the weather was perfect for a later happy hour and honestly they’re just some of my favorites. I could wear these jeans everyday. They’re so comfortable and I just can’t get over the color. I decided to go for full-on red: red tube top, red jeans, and red lipstick with a hint of red in my Missoma x Rouje earrings.
Quick tangent: Speaking of Rouje, they just collaborated with J. Crew on a collection and I want everything. It's giving Paris meets New York in the best way possible. I'm trying to resist the temptation for now, but honestly the whole collection is gorgeous - definitely worth a look if you're into that effortless French-girl aesthetic.
I finished the look with a snakeskin print and a neutral handbag because it just seemed right, and that’s all I need to complete an outfit in my mind.
🔁 Rewear Report: These cherry red jeans have become my secret weapon for when I want to make a statement—I've worn them with everything from cream sweaters for a Valentine's vibe to black tops for classic contrast. But going full monochrome like this? That's reserved for moments when I want to feel unstoppable. The all-red combination hits different than just incorporating the jeans as a pop of color.
📌 Style Tip: When doing head-to-toe color, break it up with different textures and finishes to avoid looking flat. Here, the matte jeans, silky tube top, and snakeskin mules all read as red but have distinct personalities. Add neutral accessories like this macrame bag to give your eyes a place to rest—monochrome should feel intentional, not overwhelming.

💗 FRIDAY | Off-Duty Vibes
When your favorite tee meets perfect-fit jeans
Wearing:
Abercrombie & Fitch Mid Rise Ultra Barrel Jean • Law & Order SVU 25th Anniversary Shirt • Adidas Gazelles • Missoma Hera Dome Double Ridge Earrings
I woke up craving pure comfort, and honestly, I almost didn't share this look because it's not my usual polished content. But I'm all about not letting perfection be the enemy of good - and some days call for throwing on a favorite tee and jeans without overthinking it.
This SVU anniversary shirt holds a special place in my heart because I'm obsessed with the show and an even bigger Mariska Hargitay fan. When you find pieces that make you genuinely happy (not just stylish), those are the ones worth celebrating. Sometimes the best outfit is simply the one that makes you feel like yourself, makeup-free and all.
🔁 Rewear Report: These Abercrombie barrel jeans have become my go-to for comfort days—I've worn them with everything from cropped hoodies for grocery runs to button-downs when I need to look slightly more put-together. The relaxed fit makes them incredibly versatile and comfortable for any occasion. They're proof that finding your perfect jean silhouette is worth the hunt.
📌 Style Tip: When you're going for maximum comfort, choose one element that feels intentional—like these sleek Adidas Gazelles instead of basic sneakers, or simple gold earrings. It's the difference between looking like you got dressed versus looking like you just rolled out of bed, even when comfort is the priority.

🍒 SATURDAY | Pretty in Pink
Dressing for the fun you're about to have
Wearing:
Nine West Pink Zebra Print Skirt • Black Spaghetti Strap Tank Top • Pink High Heels • Olga Berg Pink Top Handle • Missoma Ripple Oversized Stud Earrings • Missoma Peace and Love Jelly Heart Necklace
We had friends in town visiting, well they were staying with her parents, but they made time to stop by, see the house, and meet our four dogs (yes, we have four and yes, we are crazy dog people). After drinks and charcuterie at our house, we headed to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. It was such a fun night and I’m so glad I dressed ‘fun’ for the occasion.
I threw on this thrifted Nine West zebra print skirt with a black cropped tank top that I’ve had for years now. And threw on the pink top handle and shoes to pull everything in together. Clearly, pink has become a huge staple in my closet as of late. My jewelry had to include the Peace and Love Jelly necklace from Missoma, as I love getting as much wear out of as possible. This skirt was such a fun find from ThredUp. It’s comfortable and I have so many ways to wear it in one of my upcoming posts so keep a lookout.
🔁 Rewear Report: This Nine West zebra print skirt from ThredUp has become my go-to for when I want to feel fun and confident—I've already styled it multiple ways and have even more ideas brewing. The comfortable fit and bold print make it perfect for everything from casual brunches to dinner out. Sometimes one great thrifted find becomes the piece that inspires an entire styling series.
📌 Style Tip: When working with a statement print like zebra, pick one color from the pattern to echo in your accessories. Here, the pink in the print guided my shoe and bag choices, creating a cohesive look that feels intentional rather than random. It's an easy way to make bold patterns feel polished.

✨ Wrap-Up
Again this week featured a lot of ThredUp finds as well as a few more casual options than I guess I’m accustomed too but like I said we’re going for good and not perfection. My latest email campaign titled: Style It 5 Ways launched on Friday and I hope you’ve had a chance to check it out. If you have any feedback, send it on over.
I know I’ve been saying the looks from the lake is coming and it is. I took photos of all the looks and I’m working on the content now. I just have to decide if I’ll combine it with my Friday post, post it as is and then link it in next week’s newsletter or do something else totally random.
I’m sorry it’s taken so long and I keep saying it’s coming. Ever since I decided to start churning out three posts a week, in addition to my other side projects, it seems like there is never enough time. However stay tuned because the photos are taken and the content is in the process of being turned into something hopefully useful to others.
💬 Your Turn
After this week's more laid back options, are those interesting or should I leave them out? Do you only want to see the bright colors and heels or are you good with my comfy day looks?
Until next time: may your loafers be metallic, your coffee strong, and your next outfit feel like a main character moment.
xo,
Kiley 💌
If this made you smile—or think “wait, I could rewear that” too—send it to a friend or share it to stories. I’d love that. If all else, it'd be awesome, if you could ‘heart’ the post so hopefully other readers like you, can find me.

No One Tells You Your Youth Ends Quietly
I stared in the mirror wondering when the wrinkles around my eyes had appeared and then reality smacked me in the face. I'm not 25 anymore.
