My Aura Frame
As I'm taking a break from social media/am in the process of deleting all of my social media accounts, I miss seeing photos of my friends and family, so I recently purchased a digital frame. The one I purchased is the Aura Digital Picture Frame 10.1”.
Part of me feels a little bit like a grandparent as so many of my friends have purchased these for their parents so they can upload photos of the grandkids in real time. However, seeing my photos and videos flash on the screen as I’m working throughout the day makes me smile. It’s such a small yet impactful way to bring joy into the day-to-day.
Plus, who doesn’t want to see cringey dorm room photos of themselves pop up without any warning?
This quote from Dan Savage shared by Chop Wood, Carry Water
If you’re looking for a great political activism newsletter, I highly recommend Chop Wood, Carry Water. The following is pulled directly from Chop Wood, Carry Water’s ‘About’ page as the author, Jessica Craven, can better explain their Substack.
“It’s a daily political activism newsletter that comes out 5 days a week. Subscribe and you’ll receive a short, encouraging email in your inbox each weekday (except Wednesday) telling you how you can make a difference by taking 5-7 minutes worth of EASY actions. You’ll receive an additional Sunday newsletter bursting with hopeful news, Democratic accomplishments, and all the “blue wins” I could find. (These “Extra! Extra!” posts are very uplifting!)”
“When I Grow Up” by First Aid Kit

I first heard this song while watching the latest Nic Cage movie, Arcadian. The movie, according to IMDb, is about a father (enter Nicolas Cage) and his twin teenage sons fight to survive in a remote farmhouse at the end of the world. Obviously, a weird song to hear about for the first time and then to become obsessed with but when you find a good one, you find a good one. And this is a good one.
Plus, the movie is surprisingly good too.
Vacuuming my house
When I’m stressed, I love vacuuming my house and with the state of the world right now…. I have been vacuuming A LOT. I did a quick Google search as to why cleaning can have a calming effect on us and found there are three key reasons: it directs our focus, provides a sense of control and accomplishment, and doubles as a form of physical activity.
With how much chaos is going on in the world, I’ve been trying to ground myself and protect my mental health, while keeping myself knowledgeable in the day-to-day of American politics.
These 30 Life Mantras shared by Shit You Should Care About
I started following SYSCA back when I was on Instagram, so I was THRILLED when I found out they had their own Substack, and I get to follow them here now too. I’ve always loved the content they’ve put out like their polls and their very refreshing honesty to questions submitted by readers. I highly recommend following them if you are not. They are the rarest of rare gems.
Anyway, this week they shared these 30 life mantras that they’ve been writing down for a long time as they’re ‘trying to bring you some peace in times of poison’ (see like I said, a rare gem). I loved these mantras so much; I’ve haven’t closed my browser with the webpage up since opening it as I didn’t want to forget about them. Hence why they’re now forever cemented on my own Substack.
Check out SYSCA’s 30 little life mantras and support them. :)
