About Kiley: The Woman Who's Allergic to Boring

Hi, it's Kiley, and I have a confession: I'm physically allergic to boring clothes.

Not literally (though sometimes it feels that way), but I genuinely cannot handle when my outfits are just... meh. You know that feeling when you look in the mirror and think "this will get me by" but your soul dies a little? Yeah, I refuse to live like that.

I'm 36, and I'm the woman who wears white cowboy boots with loud and unapologetic rompers and somehow makes it work. I play dress-up more than necessary, firmly believe there's no such thing as owning too much makeup, and use too many exclamation points—but I'm a millennial, so it's basically genetic, at this point.

My approach: You don't need a complete wardrobe overhaul, but you do need some personality pieces. Start small—add ONE fun thing to your basics, then build your collection of excitement-makers.

For me, that's usually:

  • A pair of heeled mules that have no business being worn to run errands but they look fabulous and that’s what counts

  • A statement scarf thrown over my shoulder like I'm about to board a yacht

  • Bright lipstick because Tuesday deserves all the shades of magenta

  • A fun purse that sparks conversations with strangers

My go-to "boring" outfit? Dark barrel jeans, cropped white tee, plenty of my favorite jewelry, and whatever shoes make me feel like the main character. It's a formula that works, but only because I refuse to let it stay basic.

Want to see how I put these outfits together? Follow me on Instagram for daily looks, or shop everything I wear through my ShopMy storefront. Can’t find something I’m wearing? Feel free to shoot me a message via Instagram, Tiktok, or on Substack.

Here's what I believe:

  • Leggings are the enemy of joy (sorry, not sorry)

  • Every outfit needs at least one thing that makes you do a little shoulder shimmy

  • "Overdressed" is a myth created by people who are afraid of fun

  • Your style doesn't need anyone's permission

  • Life is messy, hair gets frizzy, makeup smudges—and I'm not going to pretend otherwise

I started sharing my outfits because people kept saying "I love what you're wearing, but I could never..." And I thought, why not? What's stopping you from adding one fun thing to your Wednesday?

This newsletter is for anyone who:

  • Looks at their closet and feels uninspired

  • Wants to dress more interestingly but doesn't know where to start

  • Is tired of playing it safe with their style

  • Needs permission to be a little extra

  • Believes life's too short for beige

  • Wants the real stuff about style, not the perfectly curated version

I'm not here to tell you to dress like me. I'm here to help you dress like the most confident version of yourself - the one who adds the fun shoes just because. We're not chasing perfection here—we're focusing on outfits that make you feel like the main character of your own life.

Life is hard enough, so why not run through life in amazing shoes, holding on to a sequined purse, with winged eyeliner?

Ready to cure your boring outfit syndrome? Let's do this.

xo, Kiley

P.S. Yes, I own chartreuse leather pants. No, I don't regret it.
