Have you caught up on my other Things I’m Loving Lately? If not, now’s the perfect time to dive in—there’s always something new to discover! From quirky finds to personal favorites, I love sharing the little joys that make life sweeter.
This Amazing Leather Purse
This past October I attended the annual MIKIZTLI: Día de los Muertos PHX Festival in Phoenix, a beautiful celebration honoring ancestors through music, dance, art, and community traditions. From vibrant mariachi and ballet folklórico performances to delicious food trucks and a stunning sunset procession with towering skeleton puppets, the festival was incredible.
It was there that I stumbled upon a leather purse I absolutely fell in love with. It was crafted by a local artisan, and I believe I found their shop on Etsy later. Whenever I can, I prioritize supporting small businesses over large retailers—it’s a small but meaningful way to shop with intention.
Fact-Checking Reminder from The Parnas Perspective
Lately, I’ve been hooked on The Parnas Perspective, an independent journalism newsletter that cuts through political noise with sharp analysis. Aaron Parnas unpacks today’s media chaos, especially Trump’s “flood the zone” strategy, and offers insights on how to stay informed without getting overwhelmed. If you're looking for thoughtful, no-nonsense reporting that makes sense of the madness, this is a must-read.
I also love his reminder about fact-checking. In an era where misinformation spreads fast, it takes just a few extra seconds to run a story through Snopes, FactCheck.org, or PolitiFact before sharing. A little effort goes a long way in keeping conversations grounded in truth.
How I Broke Up With Amazon: A Practical Guide
Brittany’s Notebook is a thoughtful blog by writer Brittany Viklund, who explores intentional living, mindful consumerism, and reducing reliance on major corporations like Amazon. In How I Broke Up With Amazon: A Practical Guide, she breaks down the small, gradual steps she took to shift her purchasing habits, sharing alternatives for books, audiobooks, children’s toys, clothing, and household essentials.
After reading this, I started shifting my own purchases directly to retailers rather than defaulting to Amazon. I even signed up for Thrive Market, which has been a great alternative. If you’re interested in more conscious shopping habits, this is definitely worth a read!
Rewatching Sex and the City (SATC)
One of my favorite guilty pleasures is endlessly rewatching Sex and the City (SATC). I didn’t watch it when it originally aired—I was 10—but I first discovered it during summer break before my junior year of college while staying with a friend’s mom. Back then, I binged the series the old-school way—on DVDs, long before Netflix made streaming a thing.
There’s something about SATC that keeps me coming back. The friendships, the fashion, the effortless way they make adulthood look so glamorous. Who wouldn’t want to believe in a world where busy, career-driven women still manage to meet for brunch, go shopping, or catch a movie on a random Tuesday—all while looking impossibly chic? Sure, I know it’s fiction, but it still sparks that longing for deep friendships, fabulous outfits, and a life where meals are a sacred ritual. And despite knowing it’s all carefully crafted TV magic, I’ll keep rewatching—again and again.
’Wherever I Go’ by Noah Rinker
I discovered this song after my husband introduced me to Happy Ever After You, which I mentioned in my last Things I’m Loving Lately. Now, Wherever I Go is on constant repeat.
My favorite lyrics:
"It's been a long time since I’ve heard you speak
And you never saw who I turned out to be"
And…
"I still feel you here in my skin and my bones,
Yeah, some parts of you follow wherever I go."
I hope you enjoy this mix of things and experiences I’ve been loving lately. Each post, I try to curate a collection of what’s bringing me joy—whether it’s a small business find, a thought-provoking read, or a moment of nostalgia. It’s never just about stuff—it’s about the experiences, ideas, and little things that make life richer.
